The Superfoods That Are Helping People Live Longer And Happier Lives – Part Two

We hoped you enjoyed part one of our superfood guide where we explored the fantastic nutritional benefits of black soybeans, teff and avocado – one of the original superfoods. In this next article, we’ll be looking at even more of these delicious foods that are super good for you.

SPINACH – LOW IN CALORIES, HIGH IN NUTRIENTS

If you’re looking for a superfood that is low in calories but high in nutrients, then spinach is perfect. Not only is it good for skin, hair and bone health, but it is proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Spinach is another superfood that appears in many of the new and old diet trends that have swept the world. It is high in magnesium, which is important for boosting your metabolism, and maintaining heart rhythm as well as muscle and nerve function.

So, if you’re looking for a food that can help manage or reduce the risk of diabetes, prevent the likelihood of cancer, prevent asthma and lower blood pressure, all while tasting great, then get spinach on your plate.

BLUEBERRIES – SIMPLY DELICIOUS

To complete our list of the greatest enduring superfoods, the obvious choice was the humble blueberry. It’s a fruit that most people enjoy in some form or another, and with only 84 calories per cup containing nearly a quarter of the daily recommended intake for Vitamin C, it’s another food that is just packed with goodness.

Academic studies have shown that blueberries can reduce blood pressure and speed metabolism. This is like the holy grail for superfood lovers, and is one of the reasons that blueberries remain consistently popular on the finest restaurant menus.

Other studies have discovered that eating a cup of blueberries a day can contribute to reducing the risk of a heart attack by 32%. As these little blue balls of healthiness can also reduce the risk of cancer and improve memory, we highly recommend that you make them a part of your diet.
