It’s that time of the year again when the sun has set before you’ve even finished work for the day, Christmas adverts are beginning to fill our screens, and Christmas trees are lighting up our living rooms.
It’s also around this time of year that many of us are realising we still haven’t gotten around to buying presents for everybody. It’s always a difficult decision – how to buy something that’s both thoughtful and useful. A personalised pen may tick the thoughtful box, but it’s unlikely to be on everybody’s Christmas list.
However, one item that’s pretty certain to tick both boxes is a customised luxury hamper. Combining the notion that ‘it’s the thought that counts’ with some great food, drink, and other items, a luxury hamper is almost guaranteed to put a smile on the recipient’s face. So, what should you include in the hamper?
Jars of pickle, chutney, and jams are staples of any Christmas hamper, so perhaps try adding something a little different.
If the recipient likes to cook, then some good olive oil and balsamic vinegar could be appreciated, or you could even include some truffles or saffron, for a more decadent touch. Alternatively, caviar – perhaps with an accompanying caviar plate – is guaranteed to add a touch of luxury to the hamper.
Of course, the choice of drink depends on the preference of the recipient, but it’s always a good idea to include a couple of nice bottles of wine.
For a red, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a safe bet and rarely disappoints. On top of this, however, you can afford to get a little creative. Perhaps add something a little more unusual, like an ale, or maybe even a good mead.
A few mulled spices alongside could also add a nice touch, allowing them to make their own choice.
Not an obvious choice when discussing Christmas hampers, but some perfume nestled in amongst the food and drink could come as a nice surprise. For women, why not try Mendittorosa’s South Fragrance, available here on our site, with its simple yet rustic undertones of sandalwood and assorted nuts.
Or, for men, try including a bottle of Le Dandy pour Homme by Parfum D’Orsay, perfect for men who cherish the finer things in life with its exotic blend of masculine spices and exotic fruit fragrances.
Whatever you choose to put in your Christmas hamper, it’s sure to delight and put a smile on the face of a close friend, partner or family member.
