Chamomile

Chamomile is a wild plant in the daisy family. The plant has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times, and chamomile essential oil has many therapeutic benefits when applied to the skin. In fact, that's why it's one of our favourite ingredients! It comes from the Latin word "chamomilla", which means "earth apple", reflecting its sweet scent. Chamomile plants are usually found in Europe and North Africa but can also be found in parts of South America.

As mentioned above, one of our favourite uses for chamomile is as an ingredient in a natural skincare product. It is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, and it also has anaesthetic and antioxidant properties. As a result, chamomile can help with skin conditions such as dermatitis, rashes, acne, rosacea and eczema.

Chamomile contains powerful anti-oxidants, including apigenin and quercetin, both of which can help lighten dark circles under the eyes. Chamomile is also a natural anti-bacterial, which makes it perfect for acne-prone skin. And because it's anti-inflammatory, it can help with itching and swelling. It is also very soothing, which makes it great for irritated skin. Chamomile extract can be found in many skincare products, including lotions, eye creams and toners.
